Pink House Style at the Lavender Festival.

Last week, I went to a small meet-up at a lavender festival in Sonoma. The first day didn't quite go as planned, so we visited a winery instead and returned the next day to observe the beautiful plants. I tried to create a coordinate with a Pink House feel using vintage and handmade items paired with a tea-length dress.

Another trip to New York!

I thought I would share some photos of my recent trip to New York!

I especially loved this trip because I was really able to dictate where I wanted to go and the types of places I'd enjoy seeing. Hopefully next time I get to go alone or with someone with similar taste so I can cram even more into my trip! Really the whole shebang revolved around food. I was in the mood for traveling light so most of my photos are from my iPhone. @3@

Renaissance Faire Meet-up.

I am finally starting to go through all my photos on my two SD cards, although totally out of order. The next massive photodump I am going to do on this blog will be for things that happened a couple months prior to this event! My whole timeline is screwed up, aaugh.

I try to go to a Renaissance Faire every year, and this is my second year at this particular one! It was a total blast. It's a bit on the smaller end due to the venue, but I absolutely love how everything is so shady and covered with trees.

But first off, what I wore! (Just a quick sidenote, you'll see that my hands are always obsessively touching my hair... That's because I was just not able to find the pins I needed to secure the hairstyle that morning but I stubbornly went to the meet-up anyways with the impractical 'do. So in pretty much every photo I'm trying to redo it or just holding it in place, FFFFF.)

With this, my LookBook folder has gone around full circle with its dates! The first photo I posted for my LookBook was dated for April 5, 2012, and this photo was taken a year and a day later! Time has flown. I wore one of my most elegant pieces in my wardrobe with elf ears and a crown! I ended up looking totally different by the end of the day because I had glitter splashed on my face by a fairy, horns that I purchased from that same fairy, and then I ended up getting my hair braided.

Saitam Photography x Starlight Deco Dream!

I got to work with two of my favourite people on the internet, Saitam Photography and Starlight Deco Dream! I'm super thankful I was offered this opportunity. Here are the results of our effort together! Everything is styled by myself, retouch and photography done by Saitam, and the gorgeous wigs and jewelry supplied by Starlight Deco Dream and their wig line, Mahou-kei!

The first outfit has been in the making for almost a year now! I posted an inspiration board for it here last July! The moment I received this beautiful puffy split wig from Mahou-kei, I absolutely knew I had to try and replicate the split with my shoes! It's like fate shined down on me because I found my favourite pair of lolita shoes in mint in my size on sale soon afterwards, and then I squirreled this coordinate away, waiting for when I could do the photoshoot with it.

Another outfit that I have been impatiently waiting to wear. I was inspired by Sae, Takulu, and the other Angelic Pretty clones to make a coordinate using Mahou-kei's beautiful blended wig and the only full set I own--Magical Etoile! Saitam Photography did a fantastic job editing the close-up shots!

The last outfit I wore had a totally different feel to it--this time I went for a Cult Party-kei outfit coordinating the new guro faun tights I ordered from Ophanim. I highly recommend her tights to everyone! They were thick and comfortable, and the subtle print really displays the red splashes beautifully! I am also in love with Starlight Deco Dream's heart wing earrings here.

I hope I get to do more collaborations with them in the future! Please check out their businesses and show your support!

Avina x Galaxxxy Rocks!

I am thrilled to announce the newest opportunity in my life--a chance to be a spokesmodel along with one of my best friends Meggie (of SweetieCakes)--for the Japanese brand galaxxxy! I made a silly little promotional image using a print I hand-drew almost a year ago. I'm glad it's finally seeing the light of day now!

Magic Kingdom on the busiest day of the year!

Any well-written guide on DisneyWorld will tell you that the weekend after Christmas and before New Year's is probably the busiest weekend to ever go to the park. But that's exactly when I decided I would go and drag a friend along! Honestly, I didn't find it that bad and I actually think Epcot during July 4th was a bit busier! I really enjoyed the park a lot this time, and even though it wasn't fully completed, the new FantasyLand attractions I did get to visit were really cool!

This is what I wore to the park!

I'm exceptionally lazy and the majority of these photos are taken from my Instagram. Check it out, I regularly document my travels on there!

It was one of the coldest days of the year when we went to the park, but even so, we braved the cold and took the ferry to the park! It's arguably the least popular this time of year, which was nice since we didn't have to brave the throngs of people rushing to the monorail when the park opened.

Galaxxxy Photoshoot at Sloan's!

My friend Meggie (of Sweetie Cakes) and I have always been huge fans of Galaxxxy, and when we heard they were looking for spokesmodels, we thought we'd take some photos together to send to them~ =D We recently went crazy buying matching things from Forever21 and tried to add our own flair to our matching outfits.

I went crazy editing the photos I used for my LookBook and absolutely loved the tint that came out of it. My circle lenses even showed up in the close-up!

KKS: A year in review.

(Heh, do you like that? I think I'll start abbreviating my blog as KKS when I refer to it now, it kind of sounds cool. *A*)

Facebook has been doing this handy dandy "Year in Review" thing where it arranges all your photos and major events. I'm not one for really updating my Facebook properly (especially with pictures) since I tend to post the pictures on their representative communities and not on my profile, so a lot of things were missing. For this reason I decided to go over the major events that happened each month and do my own blog, year in review! This will be very picture heavy, but I hope you enjoy it anyways--a lot of these photos haven't really been posted anywhere else.

Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses

This past weekend I went to see the beautiful touring show centered around one of my favourite games: Legend of Zelda! It was absolutely amazing, and featured local musicians versus their own touring orchestra and a high school choir, which just made it that much more moving.

I decided to put together an outfit inspired by Legend of Zelda. A lot of people thought I was being fem!Link, but that really wasn't my aim. I just wore things that bore the kind of aesthetic that has been around in most of the games and mixed it with my regular fashion. I wore Charles Crown since it is a beautiful deep green (and the crowns just seemed so fitting when I thought about Zelda), a circlet I purchased from a Renaissance Faire, and Legend of Zelda jewelry from the Etsy shop LicketyCut.

I even painted some Triforce nails to match~ (Excuse the shitty cell-phone picture, my nails were pretty much destroyed by the time I went to the concert so I don't have nicer qual photos, waahhh.)

The only thing directly influenced by something a character wore was the quickly improvised Windwaker belt I made, modeled after the one Toon Link (or the Link from the "Adult Link" timeline) wears!

I'm going to go ahead and share the set list after the cut since they have pretty much completed their tour for 2012 and will more than likely change their set list a bit for next year. =)

International Lolita Day! ♥

It's that time of year again--International Lolita Day! Believe it or not, despite wearing the fashion for quite some time, this is the first time I have celebrated the special day with other lolitas! I had a really great time with my local community, we went to the Historical Flagler Museum for afternoon high tea and a tour around the beautiful property. Incoming pic spam!

My lovely Misty Sky one-piece from Angelic Pretty came in the mail a couple days earlier, so it was an obvious shoo-in to be worn at the meet-up. I also was super thrilled to loan out my Albertine one-piece from Mary Magdalene to Meggie of Sweetie Cakes, since she has a soft spot for classic lolita. =) More pictures to follow!

Lolita Blog Carnival #7: Photo Diary

I've been wanting to do this for a while because of Zeruda's blog, but now with the Lolita Blog Carnival, I have extra motivation! Welcome to the day in the life of a lolita. =) I may do this again sometime, it seems like a lot of fun! This is what I wore that day:

Onto the actual photo diary! I don't have photos for part 6 just yet because I forgot to take photos of them. I'll do it tonight though since I'll be able to replicate it for the most part. Sorry about that. ;3;

Life and sunsets are forever short.

Sorry for the lack of posting lately, a lot has gone on in my life lately, and it has taken me a long time to sit down and say something about it here.

On July 25th, 2012, I lost my beloved dog, Star. We've been together for the past 11 years, and she was pretty much a stand-in sister for me since I never had siblings. She passed away quickly and without suffering, but it doesn't lessen the hurt.

I happened to be in Maryland when I heard she was sick, so I took the first flight I could back home, only to hear from my mother that she had died a couple of hours before my flight left. The next day, I saw her body, and I sobbed pretty much constantly for a whole week. The pain is still there, but the tears have stopped.

This it he worst case of unrequited love I have ever experienced.

I have really turned inwards since her loss.

The day of her death, I took some quick photographs of the sun setting on her last day. Life is short, just like the amount of time it takes for the sun to fall behind the horizon.
I miss Star every day, and I know she is now shining brightly in the sky above me if she has not been given new life in a new form. She was pure-hearted and returned all the love I gave her, with interest. She never judged me or did anything to wrong me, she just gave me all her support.

Missing a certain kind of sky.

I've been completely swamped with work at my legal internship job, so I haven't had time to really dress up or even go outside for that matter. I found myself really missing the beautiful sky this morning, and dug up a bunch of old pictures of the beautiful skies I have seen over the two years, starting in June 2010. (These are all from my Tumblr, hence the watermarks.)
